What if buildings could share energy instead of wasting it?

Bankside Yards is powered by a 5th generation energy sharing network, which is currently the only one of its kind in the UK. This advanced system enables all eight buildings in the mixed-use development to share and exchange heat, which in turn avoids waste. 5th generation networks are estimated to cut overall energy use by up to 30% compared to a typical set up, creating a far more efficient system.

Here are just some of the ways Bankside Yards is working towards energy efficiency and sustainability:

• All electricity within the 5.5 acre Bankside Yards development will be sourced from renewable sources, therefore producing zero emissions in operation.
• Opus, the 50-storey residential tower on London’s South Bank, will be part of the energy-sharing network when it completes in Q1 2027. The all-electric design will provide greater energy efficiency and lower energy bills for residents.
• The optimised façades of Opus will be designed to ensure 50% better energy efficiency than standard requirements.
• Biodiversity has been prioritised within the public realm at Bankside Yards to include 150 trees across 20 species planted around the site. This will support the Mayor of London’s aims to increase the city’s tree canopy cover to 22% by 2050.
