One of London’s most vibrant art and culture quarters and a hub for mid-century modern architecture, the South Bank has in recent years begun to ‘assert itself as an enticing place to live’, thanks to developments such as Bankside Yards, writes Dominic Bradbury for the Financial Times.

As part of his forthcoming book ‘South Bank: Architecture and Design’ an exploration of the last 75 years of the South Bank and its recent evolution, Bradbury highlights the development of Bankside Yards and the repurposed historic railway arches. One of the eight new buildings being delivered is Opus, the 50-storey residential tower which will be the tallest in central London. With the notable Southbank Centre, Royal Festival Hall, and the Hayward Gallery as neighbours, Bankside Yards will ‘anchor itself in the local design language’. Architect and founding partner of PLP Architecture, Lee Polisano shared his thoughts:

‘I feel this is just the beginning of the South Bank as a neighbourhood’.

Opus, Bankside Yards will be completed in 2026.
