Native Land has marked a major cultural milestone as the ANDY EARL X Bankside Yards exhibition opens today. This is the first time the general public has been able to enter the historic railways arches in over a century.
The landmark, three-month long photography exhibition showcases the work of acclaimed photographer, artist and filmmaker, Andy Earl. His career has spanned four decades and has defined the visual language of pop culture.
From Sir David Attenborough to Johnny Cash, Madonna Jagger, Earl has collaborated with some of the world’s most influential names. His signature “Flash and Blur” technique introduced movement and instability into staged images, to create his distinctive visuals.
The opening marks the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough and in celebration, it presents Earl’s definitive Blue Planet portrait, a cinematic photograph of Attenborough taken in 2003 to launch the acclaimed Blue Planet TV series.
Featuring 40 pieces of work, Andy Earl x Bankside Yards signals the first chapter of a wider cultural programme embedded within the historic fabric of Bankside Yards, as the site continues to evolve into South Bank’s newest mixed‑use neighbourhood.
With the neighbourhood’s landmark residential building, Opus, set for completion in early 2027, the opening of the railway arches offers an early insight of into the public programming, cultural activity and sense of place that will shape the neighbourhood as it develops.
