Albion, the British restaurant and shop owned by Conran, has taken space at NEO Bankside and is now open to the public. Following the success of the first Albion in Shoreditch, the Conran partnership has selected NEO Bankside, adjacent to Tate Modern, for its second restaurant in London.
Albion NEO Bankside serves time-honoured British classics and hosts a small shop and food market within the restaurant which sells a wide variety of British produce, from organic meats to breads, cakes and pastries.
Food retailers from Borough and Maltby Street Markets supply produce to the Albion shop, giving locals the chance to shop outside of market trading hours. Albion NEO Bankside stocks groceries from Tayshaw and Chegworth Farm, dairy products from Neal’s Yard and oysters and prawns from Wright Brothers. There is also a selection of London and Kent brewed beers for sale, including The Kemel from Bermondsey.
James Henderson, Development Director at Native Land, comments:
“Albion NEO Bankside will provide an everyday resource for the nearby office community, local residents and tourists alike. The arrival of Albion is another step forward in our efforts to create a vibrant and varied community in and around NEO Bankside.”
Terence Conran comments:
“Albion has been a smash hit in Shoreditch, and we believe it is a popular concept that will work well and we are looking to secure other sites in London. The biggest problem has been finding the right sites but at NEO Bankside we’ve got one of the best spots in London in such an iconic building.”
